Simultaneous interpreting

Simultaneous interpreting means translating the spoken word in real time. Simultaneous interpreters, also known as conference interpreters, work in pairs on a per-language basis in an interpreting booth. They hear what is being said through headphones and at the same time translate into a microphone. The audience listens to the translation through a receiver and headphones.

This is the most commonly requested interpretation method: both audience and interpreters consider this technique to be efficient as well as convenient. For smaller groups and informal meetings (two working languages at most), a portable whisper system can be used. The interpretation will also be carried out simultaneously, but the interpreting booth is replaced by a convenient portable suitcase.
